The Toyota Tundra is challenging the full-size pickup market. The Tundra is offered with two tunes of the same turbocharged V6, and the hybrid Tundra i-Force Max beats out the gone but not forgotten V8 regarding horsepower. But which is right for drivers in Sandusky?

Towing Performance

While the gas-powered Tundra can tow about 650 pounds more than the hybrid, at 12,000 pounds for the gas and 11,450 pounds for the i-Force Max, there is plenty of towing power with both options. It should be noted that this decrease is not due to a lack of power but from the added weight of the electric motor and added gearboxes that connect it all together.

Technology

The gas Tundra comes with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment screen on the lower trims while it upgrades to a massive 14-inch touch screen on the higher trims. The i-Force Max only comes equipped with the larger 14-inch screen. Beyond the choices in screen size, the systems are roughly the same, with a JBL sound system pushing sound out of 12 speakers.

Safety

The safety features on both the Tundra and the Tundra i-Force Max are the same, featuring Toyota's Safety Sense 3.5. Forward collision warning and emergency braking are standard. Also, lane departure warnings and lanes are kept along with adaptive cruise control.
